Alright, when I was watching Rob Roy a few years ago (at the height of
my Scottish obsession), I noticed a guy with long red hair and a kilt,
so obviously I was like HELLO Jamie Fraser! Anyway, it was none other
than Eric Stoltz, who I think would make an excellent Jamie if they
made a movie! There's a really good picture where you'd swear it's
Jamie himself but I CANNOT find it again on the intenet, so check this
link out and just imagine it's Jamie with his hair pulled back hahaha!

I have always thought he would be great in the role...but I never saw him in
Rob Roy...Now I have to rent the movie :-)

Eric Stoltz has been good in what he's done, and I like him as an actor, but
I see Jamie larger and stronger physically. I'm really hoping (if the movie
ever happens) that they use "unknowns" in the principal roles.

I agree, Kim. Jamie is so much a part of my imagination that nobody is going
to be exactly right and they would have to be able to play him from age 23
to 80-something. Liam Neeson is a good middle-age Jamie, but too old to be
Young Jamie.

Alex Kingston is probably the closest for Claire. No matter who plays the
parts, nobody's going to be completely happy.lol

During the evening with Herself, someone asked about a movie/tv series.
Diana said that they had a very serious contender for a 4 hr tv mini series
and that it had been approved by a very big wig at one of the networks.
Then 911 happened, the series idea was dropped and the exec that had
approved it all was fired. She also said, "and no, don't ask me who I think
should play Jamie!" Her agents are very very particular about promoters
that come to her with an offer for the tv/movie.

I also agree that Alex Kingston (or ER fame) is the best bet for Claire.
Every time I see her, I'm more convinced of it!

How about that guy that played "Highlander?" Mel Gibson would have also
been great a few yrs ago. He's definitely too old now for it, but he sure
was good in Braveheart & the Mad Max movies, same type of character,
especially when he had long hair & sword attached....

The original Highlander, Christopher Lambert, is too old, but I can
see the TV Highlander, Adrian Paul, in the role. He's maybe not tall
enough, but he's drop dead gorgeous, lol.

Actually, I've got a couple of pics of him when he was doing the
flashbacks on HL, in a plaid and not much else. I guess he wouldn't
be too hard on the eyes for a full length flick dressed like that ;-)

I actually see him as Dougal. I think Jamie needs to be younger. But maybe
Liam when he was younger...

I finally caught "Kate and Leopold" on STARZ a couple of weeks ago, and I
think Hugh Jackman would be a great Frank/Jack.

Have to agree with you there, Linda ... Hugh Jackman would be
wonderful. In "Kate & Leopold" you only got to see a bit of the
heartless side, but enough to see him clearly as Jack.

Another casting thought ... Kathy Bates as the old Geillis?

Liam Neeson as Dougal might be quite interesting, but I have to agree
with others that Jamie & Claire should be complete unknowns. Then
again, I think Ashley Judd could pull off Claire quite well.

Oooh, never thought of Ashley Judd. Alex Kingston's name was thrown around
a bit, and when I finally caught her in ER (hardly watch any network tv), I
thought she'd be great. Kathy Bates is a wonderful actress. I think she'd
be a good Geillis, too.

Kathy Bates as Gellis, but only if she loses weight. Black Widows have to
be alluring.

As Jamie, possibly Keith Leger, the young man who was in the Knight's Story
and also in The Patriot as Mel Gibson's son. Not sure if he is quite tall
enough, though. Same problem with Ethan Hawke. Did Brian Keith have any
children who went into show business? He played a role in an old movie
similar, about Maureen O'Hara bringing Hereford sheep to Texas to crossbreed
with longhorns, or something, and that characterization would have blended
well with Jamie.

What about Brendan Fraser. Already has the name, just need to dye his hair.
He is mostly known for comedy, though.
I would love to see Adrian Paul in it, but his eyes and skin are a bit dark,
even if they dye the hair.

But once Geillis hit the New World, she's always described as quite
overweight. She doesn't have to be alluring ... she has magic <g>.

Did you mean Heath Ledger? he doesn't seem tall enough for how I have
pictured Jamie, what about Archie from Monarch of the glen?

Just caught "Lord of the Rings: Return of the King" this last weekend and
fell in love with David Wenham. Here is a link to a pic of him from the
movie. As soon as I saw him, I thought, "Jamie!"

Is Alex Kingston the red-haired doctor? I loved her & think she's be a
fabulous Claire! She's certainly got the character for it. Kathy Bates is
usually great in whatever she's in.
