How can we open up a new newsgroup re Herself's books?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am getting pretty tired of seeing
all of this spam come thru on the newsgroup lately.

Does anyone know if it's possible for us to start up a "new" newsgroup about
Herself's wee buiks? Maybe something obvious like alt.books.jamieandclaire?
Or how about alt.books.gabaldon? Would Herself have to approve that last
one?

I am not sure if starting a new group would help get rid of the spam. I
belong to several newsgroups and they all get the same spam messages. But
it would be great if there was a way to avoid it.

able to filter out spam like the pervs send. Or, there are always the email
groups on Yahoo! There are a couple I belong to...no spam or flaming allowed.

It wouldn't. Depending on what you use to read the newsgroup, you should be
able to filter out spam like the pervs send. Or, there are always the email
groups on Yahoo! There are a couple I belong to...no spam or flaming allowed.

There is only one way to get rid of the spam. That would be to create
a moderated newsgroup. This kind of newsgroup requires a whole lot of
dedication, due to moderators having to approve every posting.

As for where to go, news.announce.newusers periodically will post a
FAQ that describes the process one needs to make a new group.
