OK, firstly, I'm a guy, and yes, I like these books. So there!

I read this group occasionally, and thought I'd start a thread.

I just watched Kingdom of Heaven with my four boys. Good movie, seems
pretty realistic. One character caught my attention. Near the
beginning, after Liam Neeson and his group pick up Orlando Bloom and
take him to the crusades, they stop in the woods to camp.

A training session of sorts begins with Liam training Orlando with the
broadsword. After a few minutes, one of Liam's henchmen asks if he can
take over the training by asking Liam, "May I have your leave...", or
something like that. He begins to really whail on little Orlando! This
guy is obviously well suited for being cast as swordsman, he has broad
shoulders, huge forarms, reddish hair, and he has that basic Nordic
look to him.

I think with the right hair color, a beard, a good Scots accent, (if
he can learn this, the guy seems to be Nordic by looking at his name),
and the right costume, I can easily see him being Jaime. In KOH, he
speaks with what sounds like a German accent, so maybe the guy has a
talent with that kinda thing, or maybe that's just how he talks. I
don't know.

Here's a pic I found online. Use your imagination a bit, and next time
you watch Kingdom of Heaven, think about it, you might see what I see.

(If you REALLY want to experience this series, listen to the
unabridged audiobooks read by Devina Porter. That lady can do a
Scotsman's accent like you wouldn't believe!)

Hi Donny,

Thanks for posting! Liam is on the right and Orlando is on the far left so
I'm assuming, you're talking about the guy in the middle, right? It's hard
to see what he really looks like but I guess he could be Jamie. I've never
seen that movie so it's hard to make a decision just on that one photo. I'm
sure everyone has an image of what Jamie should look like so it will be hard
to find one that suits everyone.

I have Outlander on CD unabridged and it's so wonderful to hear someone
pronouncing the names and words with the correct accents. When I read the
books, of course I can try to imagine what it would sound like but the CDs
are great!

Thanks for sharing and please join in the discussions more often. It's kind
of slow around here now.

I just saw a preview for 300, a new gladiator type movie, and it has
Gerard Butler as one of the warrior kings in it.

I read on some message boards that he seems to be the favorite by
concensus as playing Jamie, so I'll defer to popularity. (I'll have to
go see that movie with my boys).

I found these books because of my search for Revolutionary War
fiction. Started with Fiery Cross, then listened to Breath, now I've
decided to do it right, and am currently listening to Outlander.

Good books!

Donny
