Hey,

If you've been checking in regularly only to be disappointed by the links to
porn and get rich quick schemes, let's do this.

Let's have a roll call to see who all is still out there. Maybe share
something like the weather in your area, what you are doing to cope with
winter, lack of Gabaldon reading material, etc.

I'll start:

Right now, we have about 2-3 inches of new snow on top of several inches of
old snow. Thankfully not as cold as has been.

I've been dieting since Oct. and I've lost 35 pounds so far. Much of my
reading has been on the Atkins diet and other low carb diets.

I loaned out my copy of Fiery Cross, but I need to re-read it since I had a
difficult time the first time around. Maybe I'll get more out of it this
time.

Okay, who's next.

Hi,

I'm Colleen and I've been lurking here on and off for years (aka Sassenach).

I live in Saskatchewan Canada. We've just come thru a verrra nasty cold
spell - wind chills of -55 degrees! But it's much nicer now!

I've recently read Private Matters. Herself was here in Saskatoon last fall
for a reading and a friend and I went to see her - she was awesome!

Hey all

Like the others I've been around for years it seems like -

Weather here in Northern Michigan - Cold and snowy - First winter in
awhile that I just can't wait to get over -

Anyway - Listening to the Earth's Children series during my commute,
Reading Jude Deveraux when I'm at home. I never thought I would read
straight modern romance, but I quite like her stuff...anyway If you
in snow hope it melts soon, If you are in warm I envy you ;-)

Hi all..... most of my snow is melted.. lots of rain in Jersey lately (first we
get sleet, then it changes to rain) but its been so cold that even with all
the rain, the snow is still around. Although, actually, its more like the
stuff you get in a snow cone now.

Damn me for a fool, but Julie (you around Julie?) posted a while ago that she
was reading the Harry Potter series and said that they were quite enjoyable.
My son has all the books so I read them and darn it, but now I'm hooked on
another series of books that I have to wait for installments on again!!!!!
By the way, I was browsing through the library the other day and I saw a book ,
Grail Prince, by Nancy McKenzie that was supposed to be a similar story to the
Mists of Avalon. I know that so many here have read Mists that I thought I'd
pass along the info in case anybody else is library browsing for something to
read...might peak your interest if you haven't already read it.
In case I don't post again before it, have a Happy Valentine's Day all!!!

Well, I'm still here and sooooo sick of the spam. I think Kim was the only
one who saw my pathetic little post amid the rubble and pulled it out for
all to see.

Ready for Spring...got roses pruned yesterday and planted a new one called
Blue Girl...can't wait to see how it looks. Getting ready to plant some
purple and yellow daylilies next.

Currently I'm reading 'Wolves of the Calla' by Stephen King. I don't read
his straight horror anymore, but the Gunslinger series had me hooked from
the beginning and he's promised to have the last two installments out in the
next two years. Yahooooo!!

I am writing from Ottawa, Canada and wow has it been cold and miserable here
this winter. Finally warming up a bit though for Winterlude which is really
nice. I just got my hands on the Private Matter so I have some fun reading
coming up...

At the risk of sounding 'nibby,' where do you live??? We still have snow on
the ground here in central Indiana, but I'm really itching to get into the
yard and clean out the flower beds. For right now, I just have to be
satisfied perusing the seed catalogs. :-(

Hi Linda, I live in Oregon's Willamette Valley. Usually quite temperate, but
colder than usual for this late in the year. We have frost on the ground
this morning but are expecting temps. to get as high as 54 degrees later
today. We should have a couple of days thus and then the rain will return,
off and on until about June.lol

Lol, I check this group once or twice a week, hoping for a real post. Here
in Michigan, we're a long way from pruning and planting season. The
temperatures here have been below average and the amount of snow we have
piling up outside is the end result. Ugh, I am sooo ready for spring! :)

Anyway, I read a variety of books from all different genres. One of the best
books I've read lately is "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. It's a
wonderful story, and definitely recommended reading (even if it *is* an
Oprah book). For twisted, fairly erotic escapist fantasy, check out Laurell
K. Hamiltons Anita Blake or Merry Gentry series. Both are a cut above brain
candy, but the dry humor in the dialogue, especially in the first four
"Anita" books, makes them worthwhile.

Am currently waiting for 'Cerulean Sins' to come out in paperback! Picked up
'Divided in Death' by JD Robb (Nora Roberts) at Costco yesterday and have
started that, too. If the two books I'm reading are totally unlike one
another, I'm fine. LOL

Hi
I am mainly a lurker, i live in Victoria, Australia where it is summer, we
seem to have one warm week followed by a cooler one, today it is a pleasant
25C, tomorrow it is supposed to get to a hot 38C.
I am currently reading The Fiery Cross and it is taking me ages, it is very
hard to get into, i am also waiting to hear when the next book will be
released and if they will ever make Cross Stitch into a film.

I saw the movie "Cold Mountain" over Christmas and just loved the story.
I'm a romantic at heart and I love stuff about the CW (my great-grandfather
was a CW veteran).

I picked up the book Cold Mountain the other day at Costco, but haven't
started it yet. Has anyone here read the story? I hope the story is at
least as good as the movie was......

The book is 10 times as good as the movie ... he's an excellent writer. I've
read it a couple of times now, and still sometimes I re-read whole passages
just to "hear" how wonderful they are.

been in the 80s here all this last week, and in for thunderstorms this
weekend.

I've been lurking for years, used to post frequently but certain
circumstances decided for me that it was better to sit back and let everyone
else do the talking :-P

Anyhoo, /hugs and /waves, running off now to put my nose back into a book,
currently (re)reading First Rider's Call by Kristin Britain.

Hi all

I'm another "lurker" from Ontario, Canada. Posted once or twice. I have
managed to make fans out of both my sisters and my Mom too. Just finished
'private matter' and really enjoyed it. It's good to have a book that you
find hard to put down!

It's been cold, but spring is in the air - and I'm ready. It's been a long
cold winter.
