Hi All,

Herself was in Edmonton last nite to promote ABOSAA. And she was awesome!
This is the 2nd time that I have seen her and this time, it was up close and
in person too (was sitting in the front row)! For the first 40 min or so,
she talked about how she got into writing and how the idea of writing the
book came about. It all started with a man in a kilt, who then morphed into
a 6ft man with red hair! And that was 15 years ago that Outlander was first
published.

She assured us that there is at least one more book and possibly TWO to the
series. The books have been optioned 4 times to be made into a miniseries,
but nothing has come of the options. Then she read a few pages from the new
book, a scene with Jamie and Ian visiting an Indian village (don't worry, I
won't be saying anything more - ie a spoiler!). I'm ashamed to say that
I've only read a few pages of the wee buik and that's when I was standing in
line last nite to have the 3 books with me autographed. I also had my
picture taken with her - second time too!

I'm surprised at myself that I'm taking my time about getting into the
book - just wanting to savour it I guess.

Glad you got to enjoy an evening with herself! I'm jealous. DG just
doesn't make many trips up here to the northeast. I check and check
but she just never seems to come to my neighborhood. Guess I could
have driven 4 hours to DC but it didn't work into my schedule. Well,
hopefully, sooner or later....

I also am taking my time with this book. I'm sorry now that I'm a
little further into it that I didn't re-read at least FC to refresh
where everyone is. I couldn't remember all the details for some of the
things revisited in this book. Well, that gives me an excuse to read,
re-read and read again.
I wish there was a web page with a general index for where people and
things are described, discussed and mentioned. Then you could go to
the page, see which book and pages you need to re-read and go from
there. Boy, an index like that would be some undertaking. The
companion only goes so far on that measure.... well, in the
meanwhile, enjoy the savoring!

Happy reading, Nancy
